In the midst of sorting out the host city, Israeli broadcaster KAN has announced that HaKokhav HaBa L’Eurovizion will be used as the selection process. This format has been used since 2015 and has been successful in bringing Israel to the final inclusive of their 2018 win.
Despite the return of the national final format, there will be some changes to the competition. For the first time, the song that will be performed at Eurovision will also be chosen as part of the show. There will be a handful of shows to determine which song will be the representative entry as well as a show to determine which singer will go through to the final of HaKokhav HaBa L’Eurovizion.
Usually the broadcaster Reshet 12 have selected the Israeli artist while KAN, the Israeli public broadcaster chooses the song internally. This year both broadcasters will work together on the shows.
